Church Fundraisers: An Opportunity For Fellowship
A large part of church life should be related to fellowship or a congregation will not feel connected. Church fundraisers are no different from any other social function within the church. Fellowship is sort of like a circle or cycle. Strong churches feel connected, fellowship grows church connection, connection makes a strong church, and the circle goes unbroken. Why not turn all of your church fundraisers into fellowship opportunities?
How
Can you name another thing that brings out the congregation like meal? Make that a community advertised meal and you may add members when others see the open fellowship and friendships within your congregation. Another event that brings out entire families is a chance to have a family portrait done or a church directory photo shoot. If you advertise and promote the family portrait opportunity, you can bring a tidy sum of money into the church for the different ministries within the church while filling a need that may go unheeded otherwise. A church directory is as much a fellowship tool as it is anything else. It offers a way for young members to contact older couples and vice-versa. If the pastor promotes the mentoring of young couples, a directory provides the means to that end.
Benefits
We have all seen congregations that dwindle or split. Sometimes it is over true and basic theology, but more times than not it is related to a feeling of comfort within the congregation itself. All churches have to look for money for ministries outside of the basic Sunday services. Before you can tackleĀ church fundraisers that minister to the public, you need to tend to the flock inside. When members feel that they are truly known and accepted attendance usually increases. People on the outside of a church can tell when members are connected and that increases the chance of growing your congregation. None of this can be accomplished without fellowship outside of Sunday services.
The fellowship aspects of church fundraisers can increase the attendance and income of those same fundraisers. The more connected a congregation is the more successful a fundraiser can be. The process flows like fountain: fellowship equals connection, connection equals increases fellowship, and both flow toward success in all church endeavors.
